The Camp Creative Group are a design agency who live by the moto “Fall in love with your design” and it is their very own website that I have fallen in love with. Read on to find out why…

The Camp Creative Group website has been built to show off the agency’s work while giving them a very professional but friendly personality – and it achieves these goals very well. The first thing I looked at on the site was the logo. It’s a beautifully colourful yet subtle logo that is placed within it’s very own tab. This tab not only gives the logo an importance within the site but it is the first element (of many) that gives the site a feeling of depth. This is created with a beautiful gradient and a very soft shadow.

The design of the site then leads your eye to the tagline “Fall in love with your design” which is placed on top of a beautiful grey that has a lovely little abstract illustration in it. The examples of work are displayed in a slideshow format, meaning that they can display more examples of their work. I really like the opaque borders surrounding the images, with the background illustration being blurred. This is a very nice little detail in my opinion.

This opaque theme is carried on as you scroll down to the content of the page, using it as a container for the text. This container once again employs a subtle drop shadow making it seem like it is on another level to the rest of the site. This content area uses a very pale grey making it stand out from the area above it. They have also used SIFR, to ensure what looks like a Future font displays for their titles. In my opinion, this choice of font fits very well with the clean and simple style of the site.

The footer follows which once again uses a very dark grey, giving the homepage a symmetry of light and dark. The site has a wonderful use of ‘white space’ throughout the site, but this is especially evident in the footer with a huge amount of space between each element within it.

To summarize, the site has an amazing feel of depth, using opaque borders and drop shadows superbly. The site is very clean and elegant with some great little touches adding the fine details that really make it stand out.

Don’t just take my opinion as gospel, what do you think? Am I talking nonsense? I’d love to hear your opinions of the site. Be sure to visit it here.

  • Really great critique Atikus. You touched on everything that should be touched on. What a lovely design. I love the portfolio, presentation of the work is well organized.

Shame on the people who ripped you Sarah but it means you're doing something right and in my opinion a mark of success.

Doesn't mean you shouldn't take action against them though.
  • There are lots of people who've tried to. I used to have blog posts up on my personal site. It was too much to keep up with :) I do have some screen shots from when they did. I usually issue a DMCA and they take the design / content down. There are a couple that didn't do much - I'll have to see if I still have the info and addresses. The rip-offs have been getting slower as the site has been getting more buried on the gallery websites, though. I don't know if that's good or bad :)
  • Hi Sarah,

I'm really glad you liked what I had to say. It's a great site with lots of very good aspects to it.

I've had it in my bookmarks for ages and now I'm writing on here, it seemed like the obvious choice for a review.

Kimberly, I'm glad you agree with my opinions. Have you got any examples of people who have tried to steal the design? We could make this a shame wall
  • You're not just talking nonsense - this is a great design.

In fact, many people have fallen in love with CCG's site... and many have foolishly tried to steal it to make it their own!
  • Wow. Thank you so much for the kind words about our site. We truly feel honored!

Great write-up, also. Even if I'm a little bias - I love the way that you broke apart the design and really looked at it in-depth.

    Thanks :)
